Hall of Fame

On April 30, 2011 The Fish Creek Atlantic Salmon Club was honored by being inducted into the New York State Outdoorsman Hall of Fame and given the Sportsmen of the Year Award.  Several members of the club attended the proceedings held at the Rusty Rail in Canastota, New York.

The award was given to the club for its 15 year mission in an attempt to restore Atlantic salmon to Central New York.  The club has had some success with Atlantics being caught in the Fish Creek system and in Oneida Lake.  Club members are grateful for the honor but that is not what we set out to do.  The club firmly believes that Atlantic salmon belong to the area and we are thankful that we have the opportunity to restore this magnificent fish that once was native and so plentiful to these waters.  Perhaps, in some small way, we can say with certainty that Atlantic salmon once again swim in their ancient home waters.
